"Heart of the Crown" Chapter 96
Chapter 96
Crescendo
“When the wings of the hawk-men flutter,
When the air fills with the terrible moans of birth and death,
From the land of genii and demon,
When the fog caresses the roses,
The light shall come and answer the needs of the right.”
The chant changed the light in the unreal setting.
The world that had been created to confuse Cela of Tar was melting away, but what would be left?
She stood in a verdant forest. Looking around she saw distant animals and trees, all seemingly untouched by anything human.
She turned to what she thought must be the west and began again.
“Without fear, without anger, the love of life incurs,
The inference of soil and the sound of the earthen silence,
Without greed, without hope of advance,
Nothing truer than light,
Nothing greater than song,
This must be for it must be.”
Nothing changed at all.
Cela smiled.
This world, this vista was real.
Now what she had to construct was a bridge: a bridge that would bring the rest of her friends to her.
If they were not too far away and all still alive, she might be able to retrieve them.
She walked fifteen steps to the bank of a small river. This would be the source of both the power and the direction to connect the various worlds. The river is always the life force and the world connection. Here it would be no different.
What they would do once they were all together was a task that was a total unknown.
But start she must, and start she would.
It was not going to be a short process.
