Chapter 65
"The Last Battle"

Before the evil thing could prepare, it was time to launch the final assault. However this went, it would be the only chance to end this.

It was a simple strategy, there was too much power involved to try a flea flicker on this one.

Surprise in this, like almost all of war that doesn’t involve bombardment, was the greatest weapon in the arsenal.

The Kane Creature was ranting and cursing about his loss of control over Vaskania and Sanchez, which in our world, had only happened about an hour ago.

His rage was nearly palpable, the air itself rippled with purple tinges fired by the charge emanating from his insane magic energy.

When Vaskania and Sanchez landed before him they were armed with swords charged by the same “Tome of Enchantment” that had swept them from that cliff beyond Kane’s eyes.

The Baron blasted mystic energy from the Sword of Gilgamesh straight into the evil being’s eyes.

Sanchez focused the power of the Mace of Perseus into the creature’s chest.

Both beams blasted their target in concert.

Then the two warriors split, Vaskania going to the left, Sanchez running to the right.

As Kane looked up to respond, he saw the pair moving away. As his gaze was drawn in two different directions the second wave struck.

Sebastian Claus shot a dozen arrows from the crossbow that had been blessed by Brahman of Delphi and all of them impacted on the beasts’ chest.

Harriett Dante blasted her twin 45’s with their own special qualities into the thing’s face. She had altered her bullets into twin chambered missiles. On one side was rock salt, on the other was holy water. When they impacted both had their full effects intact. Add to that that the lead was molded with fire from the Emerald Meteor of China. The meteor had fallen during the Boxer Rebellion and the flaming center had purified the souls of all those it contacted. Its fire transferred that same purification to all things it touched.

The battery of pounding pushed the evil thing back.

Claus and Dante split in opposite directions, as Sanchez and Vaskania battered the thing from the sides.

Then she appeared.

Kane almost laughed at her tiny stature, and seeming helplessness.

“So,” he boomed, “They leftthe least for last.”

Ethel Muntz summoned all the power within her. She knew she wouldn’t have the chance to have the same impact a second time.

She ignited the anger within herself and blasted it at the thing that had called itself Damien Kane.

With a sound that could only be recreated by the collision of planets, the explosion blew the beast over a nearby hill and out of sight.

The cloud of dust created by the blast blinded all present.

Ethel Muntz fell to the ground. She was expended, physically and emotionally. She had nothing left. If that did not do away with the vile thing, she didn’t know what she would do.

Then, ten times its original size, the figure of Damien Kane stepped from the cloud of dust.

“Is that all you got?” He said.
