From Out There
Sep. 29th, 2004 05:15 pmNever question my creds on UFO's. I bought the first commercially released book about them back in 1960. "Fly Saucers--Serious Business" by Donald Keyhoe. I have followed the phenomenon for a lot of years, but that is only a bit of what I want to talk about. I have also studied UFO followers, and some, like myself, are just studying an amazing part of our world and our people and government's reaction to it. But for some it has become a religion. Literally. Some openly, some subconsciously. They think that someone from "Out There" will come down and show us the way, when we're ready. Folks, is this any more extreme than any religion? There are hundreds of tales of "Angels" who came down and fixed problems. People pray to saints and deities all over this world to intervene in their lives. Then, there is the "V" chip. Someone else will decide how to categorize what is harmful for my children to watch. People want the government to intercede (not in everything, just their issues) and make everything go our way. That's not the way it works. If there is a God (we'll put that discussion off for a while) he/she/it is not Out There somewhere. It lives in your heart, and that should be the point of use. Everything should be within your own hands. Think positive, yes, but do what needs to be done for yourself. Help others, not because someone told you to, or threatened you with punishment if you didn't, but because that is what being a human is about. If you have someone out there that you owe to, you will eventually make them your excuse. Failure is a punishment leads to "God Told Me To Do It!" And then we have holy wars (now there is the most moronically oxymoron line every uttered, holy war!) Instead of saying "What would Jesus do?" ask yourself, "What does my heart of hearts tell me is right and fair?" You will never fail if you do that. You may not get everything you think you want that way, but that isn't failure. Doing what is right is winning. Winning at all costs is losing. The truth is always within you. It is always easier to let someone else tell you what is right. You know what is right, just trust in your heart. The Deity stops there.
