Puff, The Most Powerful Wizard on Earth

Puff, The Most Powerful Wizard on Earth
Buzang the Wizard had lived a life that was full of mystical experience. All along the way he had encountered enchanted creatures of every description and intent.
On his first trip into the nether realms he met Ceribus and, with amazing luck and great courage, had escaped with only the loss of his left foot.
While exploring the outer reaches of the astral planes he befriended the Dragon V'Lvthorn and battle along side her in the epic combat with the Chimera known as Chelf.
Buzang got his name (before this he was known as Clifford Meadowlark) from the Unicorn named Oscarmarx. The two of them had replaced the Cauldron of the Sun and saved our world from a frozen death.
But, now Buzang was ready to pass onto the next world. He was well over 8,000 years old, and it was time. But he wanted to create a hero to protect his world.
So he turned to his beloved feline Puff (short for Midipuff Shansong, named for the Siren of Sirius who had taught little Clifford how to create stronger spells through linking them to music.) The cat had filled his last few years with joy.
He had always been a cat lover and used many of them as talismen during his lifetime.
So, now, after almost a year of preparation, Buzang was ready to transfer all his Earthly power into Puff and create a champion for his home world.
With a thunderclap, and a rolling wave of fog it was done. The cat looked up at him, and then licked its paw.
He knew it would take a while for the knowledge to come through, but he had increased the brain size in the feline almost 50 times to make room for all the mystic information.
Now the Gate Keeper approached to take him into the higher realms.
Puff chased a shadow.
Buzang furrowed his brow.
"It doesn't work," the Gate Keeper told him.
"What?" he asked of the Wise one.
"Even if you increase their brains a hundred times, they can't make use of your power."
The Wizard looked at him dumbfounded.
"A thousand Wizards have bought into the same falsehood. That the cat is a mystical being," The Ancient Keeper told the exiting mage. "But, if you give them everything in the world, they become nothing more than what they were all along. Despite what you WANT them to be, they will continue to be the same thing."
Buzang looked questioningly at him.
"One of the stupidest creatures on the face of the Earth"
The two beings faded into the next level of consciousness.
Puff tried unsuccessfully to understand why the door, that had been open at sometime in the past, was now closed and would not let him follow what may have been a mouse or might have been a dust bunny.
The most powerful wizard on Earth sat in the middle of the floor, and waited for something to react to, just as he had always done.
