One thing we must never forget

While times seem dark, there is something to remember. While we see evil surrounding us, on the verge of supplanting all that is right, there is a note that we must listen for, and savor it more than ever before. There are still heroes out there. There are parents who strive to teach their children that honor and honesty is more to be loved than money and placement and popularity. There are people who, on a daily basis, resist the urge to run from hard choices. They do not pick the easy, cheap path that so many do, they know that what is popular today will give was to what is real eventually. And, even if not, it is what is right. We will hold our hands out to the friends that society reviles. We will hide the families in our attacks, we will smuggle those souls to freedom. We will not give in. Just because the general public says, "Hey, it's okay to hate this group, or that group. Because our political leaders or our religious leaders or our business leaders or somebody else tells us to." Don't change because someone else tells you you are to stoic, you are too hard on yourself. Change only when your heart tells you it is right. If you change for any other reason that is sliding back into all the things you had hoped we had all evolved beyond. And even though you see how many have not gotten up to that mountain top, remember, some of us are still climbing. Some of us will not be little and petty and greedy and short sighted. Some of us know that if Angels exist, they are us. And heroes are still out there, watching out for us all.
