The Soldiers of Freedom & Justice

The Protector was shining his armbands, so that they would catch the light. That was just in case there was any press at the next battle.
Agatha Harpy was calling forth minor demons, and then zapping them with small bolts of magic lightning, causing them to pop like bubble wrap. She was bored and wondered when they would be called.
Winky (the Wonder Nurl) sang his newest song, one that needed work. When he hit the right notes it would send anyone present screaming in pain, and then numb their ears close to deafness for between 15 minutes to half an hour. This, added to his other sonic powers, had to be kept in total fitness. They would need him if the Goodwill Bandits struck again.
Then Paopadoudou, the ancient god of the lost tribe of the Zantu, walked into the room.
Everyone lept to attention.
"There was a break in a the federal depository in New York!" He announced.
"I'll get the SFJ flyer warmed up!" The Protector stated, with just a hint of joy in his voice.
"No, no," The 7 foot tall leader of the superhero team said, waving his hand in a forlorn gesture, "The Justice Team got it."
A communal sigh escaped from each member of the team.
The Protector said, "What about that drug thing that was going to go down in Gotham City?"
"The League Above Reproach closed it down early this morning."
Agatha asked, "And that revolution in South America?"
"The Magician's Guild negotiated a treaty."
"Damn" exploded from Winky's mouth.
"I know, my friends." Paopadoudou said, "It is hard being the least know superhero team. But our day will come."
A moment of weary silence trudged around the room. Then Winky walked to the phone.
"Wanna see if the All Winners Squad wants to play bridge again?"
Three heads nodded in dismal dismay.
They couldn't beat them either.
