I was sitting here and for some reason found myself wandering through the realm of 1950's SF/Horror (since most of what was made and termed Science Fiction back then was really more Horror than SF.) That's when I came to one of my favorite forms of 50's SF, the G.B.M.! That's what Robin and I used to call them. Giant Bug Movies (note Bug, not insect to include arachnids). There have been tons of these sing that time. From "Mothra" to "Mimic" big bugs have always been popular. Look at "Starship Troopers!" So here are my top 10 of the 1950's G.B.M.s. (Those with and a notation (*) should only be seen in the MST3K version or among friends who are likewise inclined. All are campy or out of date, but most can be enjoyed on their own terms) I have also let you know what kind of giant bug we are dealing with.

The 1950's were a time when we were all terrified of the bomb. Giant bugs were
a symbol that said, somehow, this mammoth horror will be defeated.
