The reason for the season

Okay. This is not going to be popular. This year there has been an explosion of Christianity seeking again to dominate American life. Christian organizations have been campaigning to boycott businesses who don't use Christmas as the word for the holiday. They think the original meaning is being left out of the holiday far too much. I think so to, so here is the new movement. If they do not include the solstice celebration or at least the Saturnalia or year king in their nativities, then we should boycott their businesses. For these uses for this time of year far predate the Christian celebration, in fact the church hijacked the date knowing that it was the biggest holiday of the year and also knowing that it was no where near the date of Christ. Now, if you mention this their eyes glaze over and you become an atheist. Or a pagan. Anything but a truth seeker. Truth is not what religion about. Spirituality is about man seeking solace in the world. Religion is someone deciding that there is a price to be paid for that solace. Well, my friends, if that price is beyond "Be Good To Each Other," then it comes from men and no where else. Religion is political and those who run it should be trusted no more than those who manipulate the political process. Is there that much difference between Karl Rove and Jerry Falwell? Not really. So celebrate what Jesus meant, and Buddha and Moses and Mohammad and Einstein and thousands of other great minds say to you. Then, be good to each other. After that life is yours, enjoy it. Happy New Year.
