Chapter 57
The Scarlet Sky
The battle continued across Techlamange’s magic soaked landscape.
Enchanted missiles cut blue streaks across the newly scarlet skies and thundered down to shake the peach colored hills that had only recently been black.
Robez would launch a series of blazing oaken daggers to fly at his adversary, and they would be greeted by hordes of mystical giant termites that chewed them up and spit out thousands of spiders on their webs. Each of those arachnids had but one duty, and that was to finish Cela’s enemy.
The spiders would have bitten or spun into an airless cocoon the wizard they sought, if they had not been turned into dandelion fluff and fallen onto the countryside.
Then Cela would initiate her own attack with rolling waves hundreds of feet high that would crash and drown any in their way.
But these waves were burned into steam by the flames from the Sorcerer’s fingertips.
This went on for hours and looked not to slow down anytime soon.
And at the edges of the cataclysm were the expanding Bug Bears.
No other animal was visible in all the land, for they were wise enough to run and hide.
The bears were glowing with rage and growing with each passing moment.
Any one of them was now 20 feet tall and left a footprint that was a foot deep. Now their tails not only had their normal scorpion poisons, but now they generated a supernatural lightning in every direction. The bears could not control any of this; they only knew that they were becoming something that it was not in their nature to be.
Instinctively they knew that if this did not stop, each one of them would, in effect, become explosive.
As if by a communal mind, they knew what must be done. They knew that the source of all this occult energy must be snuffed out before it destroyed them.
This army of gargantuan beasts set their sights on the two magicians and began marching towards them.
Cela of Tar and Robez were far too concerned with each other’s destruction to be aware of their mutual slaughter that was only steps away.
Cela once again took the initiative and blasted out a herd of bellowing Brangma Beasts to charge her foe.
Robez threw up a wall of sound that roared and held as the monsters flattened themselves trying to get past it and kill him.
And the Bug Bears drew nearer.
