Burning a DVD of "Showboat" (1951) and realized that I still cannot hear William Warfield sing "Old Man River" without getting goose pimples. I have, somewhere down in the boxes of LPS, a copy of "Porgy and Bess" with Warfield, Leontyne Price & John Bubbles (as Sportin' Life) all conducted by Skitch Henderson. That's a recording you will never forget hearing. Still wish they would releae the film version.
