He brought us, at the dawn of television, first hand coverage of the Nuremberg Trials. He was with us for the entirety of the birth of the space program. He told us Kennedy was dead, for 18 hours straight he covered the Moon Landing, he told us about the insanity of the Chicago Democratic Convention Riots, the was the first media figure to speak out against the war in Viet Nam. L.B.J. said "When we lost Cronkite, we lost America." I feel some of that this morning. I never met the man, but he will forever be a part of my vision of the world.
