35.

The plan was fairly simple. Hank would send his astral self into the future and find out what had happened and when it occurred.

His best controlled jumps were 15 minutes and exactly one day. All the other jumps were less well defined, and he could miss his target by as much as 45 minutes to two days. Luckily Mickey only wanted a day into the future for this first jump.

Maria had gotten on the phone moments after Mickey and called another to aide in the search. Her name was Mathusala. She was what the called a “Picture Psi.” She could project what you were seeing for others to see. Together they could, in essence, bring the future back for all of them to witness.

With a cup of coffee in him to steady his nerves, Hank was ready for the jump.

Mickey had never seen this before and was curious. He had seen other Psi activity, both in battle and in class, but time travel and astral projection were something he had never encountered.

Of course, a few months ago he had never encountered anything you couldn’t find in any Costco store on a Saturday afternoon.

Mathusala held Hanks hand as the pair sat on the sofa. David, Mickey and Maria sat in chairs that faced the two of them.

All Mickey could think of was Seer, and her prediction that he would be at the end of the world, and wondered how close what his friend was going to see would come to that.

The all waited for one more to enter the room. They would not have even conceived of doing this without the input of Colonel Stonedragon.

He was on his way, and then they would do it.

David tried to lighten the mood by asking Hank, “Did you think about cashing in on your ability?”

“Gambling and such?” The older man looked back, “Sure, it crossed my mind and if the group hadn’t come and shown me what the real use of our abilities could be, I might have.”

He laughed and said, “I’m glad I found something better to do with myself.”

There was a knock at the door, and Maria stood and opened it. Colonel Stonedragon took a seat around the circle.

“I just found out that no less than 7 of our own were spies for Shastan,” He confided, “The fact that they were rewarded by their collaborator with execution does remove our problem of
how to deal with them.”

Maria looked down and said, “But they were trusted members of the group. One can only wonder if there are more.”

Colonel Stonedragon did not react.

“Let’s see if we can find out what the scheme they all set in motion was, and how we can stop it.”

They all shook their heads in agreement.

The room became deathly quiet.

Hank closed his eyes and took a leap forward in time to see a world none of them could have imagined.
